Shannon cleaning house at the U?

You have to, I mean alot of those guys dont even put forth an effort. Why allow a kid a free scholarship if he isnt even going to try. Hes not helping the university so why should they help him. Now dont get me wrong, Shannon kept Kahlil Jones and the kid cant catch a cold but he works extremely hard, is a double major, a very good person, and a person worth keeping around because the new guys can learn from his work ethic. I just feel if youre not going to contribute in some sort of capacity, then its time for you to move on. Kirby Freeman has his degree, its time for him to get a 9-5 job. Alot of these guys are nothing but cancers. Its no secret that the players have quit on the coaches about 3-4 times the last 3 years during the middle of games. Its time he gets a fighting spirit in there and ditch the quitters.

Oh well...at least some of the others will be gone...and it's rumored up to 7 more besides the guys that were reported as gone yesterday will be gone soon to make room for more schollys.

Freeman, at best, will be handling not the QB duties, but handling the silverware, passing it out to the actual players at the training table. Unless the spirit of Johnny Unitas inhabits Freemandela's body, he'll never see the field as a Miami Hurricane again, whether he's on scholarship or not.

In reading that article that bluewahoo posted, it says that Shannon is looking for run after the catch receivers. PRAISE THE LORD. This is something Ive been screaming for the last 3-4 years. Thats why the lose of Jermaine McKenzie was such a bad one before the season. He was the only one that really had that ability although with Fright not being able to hit receivers in stride, it would have been tough no matter what.

Take note that Marve & McKenzie are REALLY tight and seem to have a good on-field rapport w/their own hand signals and all ala Manning/Harrison, and they could end up being an explosive combo.

I saw that. They have the work hard sign on their dorm room door. We can finally be excited going into the season about the offense and even if it doesnt work out, I know Shannon wont be like Coker and wait 4 years to bring in more quarterbacks. Hopefully the staff can get them coached up.

I just wish Nix and Tenuta were cool with each other and he shared the same philosphies as Shannon. Hes one of the best defensive coordinators Ive seen and hes never really worked with superstar talent either. He would be a great great hire.

there is a q&a with shannon in the herald and hes asked about guys not coming back

the way hes making it sound is that he wont tell anybody they wont be back.......but that he may tell them that they should strongly consider leaving because they wont be playing

but he did say that he wont tell anybody they cant come back

so we will have to see how this ultimately plays out........sperman has a track record of looking like a buffoon.......just remember his front page when it had first a pic of kuntter then a pic of the angry pirate a week later.......both times with a story about them reaching a preliminary deal and to expect an announcement soon

we know how those turned out

i certainly hope that some of these guys are encouraged to not come back........but until i actually see it happen......and i see who it is and how many there are......im not going to get too excited on the word of gary sperman

Looks like another ship opened up....

Doug Wiggins, who signed with Miami-FL as part of its Class of 2007 as an ESPN 150 recruit, was dismissed from the team in October, will not rejoin the squad, and is looking to transfer, ESPN affiliate InsideTheU.com reports. He's slated to visit Western Michigan this weekend.
Wiggins enrolled early in January but was sitting out this season as a redshirt. According to InsideTheU.com, "His time at UM was hardly smooth as he got into a fight with teammate Anthony Reddick, walked out on practice, and was seen wearing a Florida State hat a week leading up to the big rivalry game."

CORAL GABLES, Fla. -- Junior tight end DajLeon Farr led the team with three receiving touchdowns.

After meeting with coach Randy Shannon this week, Farr will not return for his senior season and is looking to transfer.

"I have been released," Farr said. "We had a good conversation and just feel this would be the best thing for me with everything that is going on at home, I felt I needed to be close to my family."

Farr said it was "personal reasons" in regards to what is going on back in Houston, Texas.

"I want to go somewhere kind of close to home and close to family," said Farr, who is scheduled to graduate in December 2008.

Farr is open to transferring to a Bowl Subdivision (formerly Division I-A) or Championship Subdivision (formerly Division I-AA) program and said he is not concerned with playing time.

Miami is left with tight ends Chris Zellner, Dedrick Epps, and Richard Gordon on the roster.

Farr started four games this season, catching six passes for 104 yards and three touchdowns.

He played in 11 games, but did not travel to Boston College for the final game of the season.

"It was just something that went on," Farr said.

He played in 29 games at Miami and had 10 catches for 134 yards and three touchdowns. As a senior at Galena Park in 2004, he was one of the top-rated tight end prospects in the country and was a top 100 recruit.

"I've had some opportunities to do a few things at a great place and it's been an experience being here."

Farr originally committed to LSU during the recruiting process, but opened up his recruitment when Nick Saban took the Miami Dolphins job.
